As we get closer to the end of April (prom season, high school and college graduation season), I think about this weird time we’re in and how different everything is for seniors this year and the uncertainty they face ahead in the coming months. 🙏

It certainly is a challenging time. This week, our school delivered yard signs to our graduating seniors to help celebrate their monumental achievement. Some of these photos and videos made me tear up. They were truly beautiful moments in this otherwise bleak time. ⏰🌎
.
I saw this inspiring Walt Disney quote earlier today in my Facebook feed and while it’s a great encouragement to young adults, it inspired me. 😍 First, think. Second, believe. Third, dream. And finally, dare. I’ve been working on some fun projects over here at Peanut Allergy Mom during our quarantine time. I think I’ve moved from phase three (dream) to phase four (dare).

What a wild and uncertain time we’re in - in jus

What a wild and uncertain time we’re in - in just a short week, we’ve gone from travel advisories to bans, social recommendations to restrictions, potential school closures to wondering if we’ll even go back this year. 🎓
.
I would never have imagined a week ago that I’d be searching three stores for strawberry frosted pop-tarts and a gallon of milk! And who knew toilet paper would be the new unicorn? 🦄
.
No matter where you are in the world or what your situation looks like - we’re all in this together. I’d like to say as food and peanut allergy moms, we’re accustomed to the unknown, the uncertainty, right? 🤷🏻‍♀️
.
But I’m not going to lie - I’m nervous. In our household - like many across the country and around the globe - we are wrestling with economic concerns, adjusting to social changes and learning to adapt to doing school at home. Our family business has taken enormous hits in just the last two days and I’ve done my share of crying. 😢
.
But here’s the deal - we are food and peanut ALLERGY MOMS - we know how to deal with the unfamiliar, the unfair and the unknown. And we know what it means to worry - we’ve got that one down like a boss. 🙋🏻‍♀️
.
But it’s going to take a lot more than a virus to knock us out. 🦸🏻‍♀️
.
This past week has given me an opportunity to reflect on what’s truly important to me and in just a matter of 5 days, what mattered to me in February isn’t even on my radar now.
.
I’m determined to embrace this unwelcome circumstance as a chance to slow down, breathe deeper and love harder. ❤️ I’m using this precious time to connect with the teen boy and help hubs expand his business for when we do get busy again. And yes, we’re playing games and eating a few cupcakes between all that too. 🧁🤣
.

So often we talk about how our kids are not defined by their food and peanut allergies, but by their character and who they are. 😍

I’m so crazy proud of this one here today as he is recognized as a semi-finalist for Dean’s List for FIRST NC. Matthew was chosen by his peers, mentors and coach as one of two students on the team who exemplify strong leadership, integrity and commitment to FIRST ideals. 🤖😍
.
No matter where his journey goes from here, Matthew is a winner in my eyes for living a life filled with kindness, honesty and integrity our world so desperately needs, and for always being brave enough to never sacrifice his values for popularity. He inspires me with having the patience to help others and the heart to guide them. ❤️
